A dramatic rescue from the clutches of a rotund, slovenly sultan.

Burning Love by Nan Ryan includes several rescues, but the best one occurs near the end of the book. When Temple Longworth is taken captive by Mustafa Ibn Agha Hussain, she is informed that she will have to marry the unwashed sultan. On the morning of her wedding, she is in complete despair...until Sheik Sharif Aziz Hamid manages to show up in the nick of time to prevent his love from being wed to his sworn enemy.

The Rescue: It happened so fast, the sultan's many guards and soldiers had no time to respond. A few seconds of stunned silence, then screams and gasps went up from the startled crowd and guns were raised and cocked by the palace guards. But into Mustafa's ear, the Sheik coolly warned, "If you want to live, tell them to put away their weapons."
