Hayton Monteith. Desert Princess. New York: Dell Publishing Co., Inc., 1986.
Philippa Tayson is an innocent, studying at UCLA when she meets Romain Al Adal, a worldly
sophisticate. Romain is heir to the throne of a small but wealthy Middle Eastern kingdom, and
from the moment they meet, they are swept away by feelings they can barely control. And yet
it is the very headiness of these passions and their suffocating power that eventually sends
Philippa running from her husband.
She flees her life of luxury in his homeland of Dharan, and
flees to New York in search of independence. And she finds it when she begins to work as a
successful model and becomes part-owner of her own agency. But years later, Romain re-enters her life:
arrogant and unchanged. He denies their divorce and lets her know that he is determined to
have her back. A whirlwind of fiery passions hold them together in an unrelenting grip, and
Philippa wonders if she can make a life with him again without the risk of losing her very
soul.
